Iranian filmmaker to judge at Italian film festival

Italy’s Cinema Povero invites Iranian director Yousef Kargar to judge at the 4th edition.

Italy’s Cinema Povero has invited Iranian director Yousef Kargar to judge the fourth edition of the event.

This is the second time that the Italian festival invites Kargar after his precious participation in the jury panel in the third edition.

Kargar, an award-winning director, has received a number of awards and titles from more than a few international film festivals for his recent short film ‘Elegy’.

The award-winning short ‘Elegy’ was shortlisted for the 89th edition of the Academy Awards after grabbing the Jury Award for Best Foreign Short at the 3rd edition of the Summer Slam Film Festival (SSFF) 2015.

His short film tells the story of an old man who has been waiting for the return of his missing son for 25 years.

Kargar who has introduced a number of his short films to the Italian Film Festival is a member of Urmia office of Iranian Youth Cinema Society.

He will represent Iran in the Italian jury panel along with other judges from Italy, the Netherland, Germany and France.

The 4th edition of the Cinema Povero (Festival Internazionale Del Cinema Povero) is dedicated to authors who have made their work at zero cost or with very low budget.

The festival holds a social and cultural approach to the discovery and introduction of short filmmaking talents in the field of short films and documentaries.
